Cruz Beckham has stunned fans — and likely raised eyebrows at home — with the release of his highly explicit new single Optics, in which he raps and sings about sex, drugs, and wild nights.
The 20-year-old son of David and Victoria Beckham appears to have fully stepped out of his famous parents’ shadow, embracing a provocative indie-rock edge that has left listeners divided.

In Optics, Cruz belts out daring lyrics like, “Take a thousand selfies in your bed while I trip in mine / I love me some mushrooms and good head and an erotic 69.” The chorus continues: “Stay high fashion, no comedown, no crashing but you wanna know how it looks, I wanna know how it feels.”
The song, part of a double single release with Lick The Toad, marks a bold new era for the young musician — one that his parents might find difficult to explain over Sunday lunch.

Amid the lyrical chaos, Cruz’s girlfriend Jackie Apostel, 30, who is also involved in the album’s production and cover art, proudly stood by him. She gushed on Instagram after attending his intimate London gig: “All HIS songs made by HIM, played by HIM, sung by HIM — absolutely smashing it. I love you.”
Sources from the music industry described the vibe of his set as “catchy indie landfill,” comparing him to early 2000s bands like The Kooks and Kaiser Chiefs. One insider at his performance said: “Cruz was a little nervous at first, but the crowd went wild. He’s clearly been listening to Oasis all summer.”

Cruz first dipped into music back in 2016 with the charity single If Every Day Was Christmas, but his latest work is far from festive — it’s raw, loud, and unapologetically adult.
