On Saturday, March 1, 2025, the last wish of Erika Deyanira Morales, a 20-year-old woman who became quadriplegic after being attacked with a bottle in a bar when she was 17, was finally fulfilled.

However, according to Morales’s family, her health insurance provider, Emssanar, had denied her access to the procedure.

Thanks to the persistence of Tatiana Morales, her sister, and the viral nature of the case, the health authority approved the procedure on February 22nd, and on Saturday afternoon her death was confirmed. “Fly high, my beautiful angel, I will always love you, little sister,” she posted in a WhatsApp message, accompanied by a photograph of the two of them. Later, she shared another image showing Erika’s hands next to hers, a gesture that symbolized the unbreakable bond between the two sisters.

According to some local media outlets, Morales had faced medical complications in recent days, although it has not yet been confirmed whether that was the exact cause of her death.
